Natural Mosquito Protection for UAE Homes: How Haven Oil Works

Mosquito protection tends to be talked about as an outdoor problem. Anyone who has lived through a UAE season knows it is very much an indoor one too. The moment a balcony or garden door opens, biting insects have an invitation to your living room.

What is Haven Oil?

Haven Oil is a small amber glass bottle of a 100% pure organic essential-oil blend: citronella, lemongrass, lavender and rosemary. No carriers, no fillers. It sits alongside Skin Shield as the home protection piece of the TNKC range.

How it works

Diffused through an ultrasonic diffuser or traditional oil burner, the oils release a light aromatic vapour of citronella, lemongrass and companion botanicals. Flying insects find this environment unappealing. It does not knock them down like a fogger or electrocute them like a zapper. It simply makes the room a place they would prefer not to settle in.

Because the mechanism is aromatic, it works best in reasonably enclosed rooms.

How to use it

Ultrasonic diffuser: 3 to 5 drops in the water reservoir. Start on the lower end and adjust to your room size. Begin diffusing 15 to 20 minutes before you need protection so the fragrance has time to build.

Traditional oil burner: 4 to 6 drops in the well. Light the tea light and let it warm gently.

Open-plan spaces: place the diffuser near the door that opens to the outside.

Do not apply Haven Oil directly to skin, food or pet bedding.

Combining Haven Oil with Skin Shield

Safety notes

Diffuse in a well-ventilated space. Do not apply directly to skin, food or pet bedding. If you have very young children, asthma sufferers or cats in the home, keep sessions short in larger rooms and ventilate afterwards. Cats process essential oils very differently from dogs or humans; restrict diffusion to rooms your cats cannot access.

How long does one bottle last?

A 30 ml bottle at 3 to 5 drops per session covers a full evening for around six to eight weeks in daily use. Most families move through 4 to 6 bottles per season, making Haven Oil one of the more cost-effective ways to hold indoor biting pressure down.
